What Design Challenges Shaped the Red Fox Lake House Project?

The project was shaped by a limited budget and a clear design objective: create a home that reflects the region's architectural character without sacrificing a contemporary expression.

Set within a forested site in a hot, humid climate, the design also needed to support thermal comfort and reduce energy demand.

“The goal was to create something that felt connected to the region's architectural language while working within a defined budget.”

How Did Multi-Cor Panels Deliver a Modern Design Solution?

Multi-Cor panels in Autumn Red and Galvalume were selected to align with the region's rural style while supporting a modern design direction.

Corrugated metal is widely used in the area due to its affordability, ease of installation, and long-term performance. This made it a practical and contextually appropriate choice of material.

“Using corrugated metal allowed the project to reference familiar agricultural structures while refining the detailing to support a more contemporary form.”

A custom F-trim detail was incorporated to transition cleanly between the roof and pine soffit, reinforcing the crisp lines of the design. Corrugated metal was also extended into exterior volumes to define gathering and private outdoor spaces.

How Was the Corrugated Metal Installation Executed?

Material consistency played a key role in the project's execution. Corrugated metal was paired with a clerestory element made of corrugated plastic in the pole barn, maintaining a unified texture while allowing natural light into the space.

Collaboration with McElroy Metal supported the project's custom detailing and installation approach.

“The support in developing custom profiles and installation details helped ensure the design translated effectively in the field.”

What Results and Energy Benefits Did the Red Fox Lake House Achieve?

The finished project delivers a cohesive design that balances regional influence with modern detailing.

Multi-Cor panels provide a continuous texture across the roof and walls, supporting the architectural intent while maintaining consistency across structures.

“The panel created a continuous texture that connects to the region's agricultural architecture while supporting a clean, modern expression.”

Performance was also a key outcome. Passive design strategies, combined with the reflectivity of the metal panels, contributed to reduced energy use. The home operates at approximately 5,044 kWh annually, roughly half that of a typical home in the area.

The owner also noted the overall experience:

“The product was high-quality, and the service from the North Little Rock Service Center was excellent.”
