Fox Cities Builders: Excellence in Metal Building Construction
4:23

At McElroy Metal, we're always inspired by the contractors who bring metal building projects to life in their communities. This month's spotlight shines on Fox Cities Builders, where Jason Habeck and Dan Ullmer are proving that great projects aren't just about steel and concrete—they're about people, relationships, and vision.

Based in Seymour, Wisconsin, Fox Cities Builders has grown from its small-town roots into a team capable of handling projects across Wisconsin, as well as in Minnesota and Iowa. Yet, even as they've grown, they've never lost that personal touch.

"You get that small company feel when you work with us," Jason explained. "But at the same time, we can tackle very large projects. Customers get the best of both worlds."

Agricultural Metal Building Solutions and Robot Barn Technology

Fox Cities Builders is involved across multiple market sectors, ranging from commercial to agricultural. Their ag projects span everything from shops and storage sheds to freestall barns, young-stock barns, and cutting-edge robot barns.

For owners evaluating options, explore McElroy’s Agricultural Buildings resources.

These robot barns are more than just technological marvels; they're reshaping how dairy operations operate.

"Each robot can milk 60 to 65 animals, and the cows can go at their own pace," Dan shared. "It makes for a really calm, stress-free environment for the herd."

Jason added, "That's what makes our job fun; every project is unique. We get to partner with each customer to design something that fits their exact needs. Nothing we do is cookie-cutter."

Building Trust Through Quality Metal Construction

Ask Jason and Dan what sets Fox Cities apart, and they won't point to equipment or blueprints; they'll point to people.

"Every job is a job interview," Jason said. "Our success comes down to trust. That means paying attention to the details, being transparent, and having hard conversations when challenges come up. That's how we build partnerships that last."

Dan echoed the sentiment: "Honestly, the longer I do this, the more I enjoy the people. Getting to know our customers, building those real relationships—that's what keeps me going."

That commitment extends internally as well. "We've got such a collaborative culture," Jason explained. "From our drafters to our superintendents, everyone plays a part. When you enjoy the people you work with, you want to show up every day."

Wisconsin Metal Building Project: Rotary Parlor Construction

One of Fox Cities Builders' recent projects tells the story perfectly. In Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the team designed and built an 80-cow rotary parlor with a holding area for 500 animals and stalls for 1,000 cows.

The results? Game-changing efficiency. The farm went from a grueling 14-hour milking process in their old facility to just 2.5 hours with the new rotary system.

"The cows actually look forward to it," Dan laughed. "They step onto the carousel, take a ride for seven or eight minutes, and step off fully milked. It's efficient for the farmer and comfortable for the cows."

McElroy’s Symmetrical Standing Seam systems, often used in agricultural and commercial projects like this, offer long-term performance and design flexibility.

For Jason, the real satisfaction came from walking alongside the family during the process. "It wasn't just about building a barn," he said. "It was about helping them shape their future. That's what makes it so rewarding."

Metal Building Contractors Focused on Long-Term Partnerships

With projects already booked into 2026, Fox Cities Builders is poised for continued growth. But no matter how many barns, shops, or commercial projects they build, Jason and Dan agree on what really matters.

"Happy cows make milk," Dan said. "But just as important, happy customers make strong partnerships—and that's what we're here to build."

At McElroy Metal, we're proud to work with contractors like Fox Cities Builders who share our passion for quality, innovation, and long-term relationships. Their story reminds us that when contractors and manufacturers work side by side with customers, we don't just build structures—we help build futures.
