Switching or adding a metal supplier isn't something contractors take lightly. You've lived through it all—late trucks, damaged panels, unclear communication, and reorders that throw your entire schedule off. Those headaches cost far more than the metal itself. Labor, time, and customer confidence are what's really at stake.
That's why the ordering experience should feel just as reliable as the panel going on the roof.
McElroy Metal understands that. As an employee-owned manufacturer with 14 manufacturing facilities, 29 Service Centers, and 44 Metal Marts, we've designed the ordering process to make life easier for contractors: predictable, supportive, flexible, and built around how real crews work in the field.
Here's what you can expect when you choose McElroy Metal.
Most contractors connect with their local McElroy Service Center or a regional sales representative, and both are full-service partners.
Your Service Center team or rep will learn about your typical projects, help you select the right panels and components, walk you through installation considerations, discuss lead times, and assist with project planning from start to finish. Unlike regional roll-formers, where you're often on your own, McElroy pairs you with knowledgeable professionals who support you throughout the entire process.
McElroy provides project estimates calculated in lineal feet, giving contractors a practical way to understand material needs and pricing early in the process. These estimates also include a part-by-part breakdown, offering clarity on the components involved.
However, these estimates are preliminary. They are not exact cut lists, and final lengths or drawings are determined only after drafting or engineering is completed.
If your project requires precise dimensions, cut lists, or shop drawings, McElroy offers drafting and engineering services for a fee. This ensures accuracy for installations such as long-run standing seam, retrofit framing, or engineered building systems.

McElroy offers an online ordering and quoting platform that allows 24/7 access. Once approved, contractors can create quotes, place orders, design custom trim, check pricing, and review order history online. Contractors who prefer to call, email, or visit their Service Center in person can continue using those methods. McElroy supports multiple workflows to fit the needs of every contractor.
Lead times depend on the specific product, color, gauge, and production schedule. However, McElroy's national manufacturing, paired with local Service Centers, provides a strong balance of availability and speed.
Service Centers are not just quick-turn facilities. They are full-service hubs capable of placing all orders, coordinating drafting and engineering needs, answering installation questions, staging materials for phased pickup, and supporting walk-in customers. They also provide education, color samples, warranty assistance, and guidance through technical documentation.
For commonly used accessories and trims, Service Centers often offer same-day or next-day availability. For manufactured-to-order products, your Service Center or rep will provide transparent lead time expectations based on regional capacity.
McElroy Metal places a high priority on delivering materials safely, efficiently, and in ways that support how contractors work in the field. All panels and components are packaged to withstand cross-country transportation. Packaging is engineered to minimize movement, flexing, and surface damage during both shipping and on-site handling.
Because many job sites cannot store all materials at once, McElroy's Service Centers serve as local staging hubs, allowing contractors to pick up materials in phases as the project progresses. Service Centers can also schedule deliveries beyond standard route-truck days, giving contractors greater flexibility to align material arrival with crew availability.
For projects that demand continuous, single-length panels or added efficiency, McElroy also offers on-site roll forming for select standing seam systems. Producing panels directly at the jobsite minimizes handling, reduces the risk of transportation damage, and eliminates the need for panel splicing on long runs. This service is especially beneficial for large commercial buildings, retrofit projects, and roofs with extended panel lengths.
Together, McElroy's packaging practices, delivery options, local staging capabilities, and on-site rollforming services help contractors maintain smooth workflows, reduce downtime, and complete installations more efficiently.

After an order is submitted, it moves through confirmation, scheduling, and production. During loading, McElroy uses material scanning technology to verify what is placed on the truck. This improves accuracy and simplifies communication if materials appear missing upon delivery.
For projects where McElroy's technical services team develops cut lists or drawings, a For Approval (FA) drawing stage will be part of the process before fabrication begins. This allows contractors to review and confirm details prior to manufacturing.
Your Service Center team and sales representative remain involved throughout the process to provide updates and support.
Support continues long after the material arrives. Service Centers and sales reps work together to provide comprehensive assistance throughout the life of your project.
Your local Service Center provides installation guidance, troubleshooting, project coordination, warranty support, accessory recommendations, technical documentation, product education, and replacement items when needed. Sales representatives complement this support with field visits, specification reviews, and jobsite insights.
